My philosophy – operations only when necessary.
The spine is the pillar that carries us through life every day. If it is damaged, movement, quality of life, and independence can be severely restricted.
Therefore, spinal surgery is only an option for me as a last resort. I only recommend surgery on the spine, intervertebral discs or joints if conservative and complementary therapies have demonstrably no prospect of success or if further waiting would lead to a significant deterioration – for example, in cases of severe pain, neurological deficits or massive restriction of movement.
For many years I have regularly performed surgeries at the Penzing Orthopedic Clinic in Vienna. To date, I have successfully carried out several thousand necessary procedures.
My surgical focus lies in spinal surgery, disc surgery, scoliosis surgery, joint surgery, and complex cases such as dwarfism. I personally care for my patients – from the indication for surgery to the procedure itself and aftercare – either as public or private patients.

Frequently asked questions about the operations
When is spinal surgery truly necessary?
Spinal surgery is advisable when severe pain, neurological deficits or movement restrictions persist or worsen despite consistent conservative therapy.
What types of disc surgeries do you perform?
I perform endoscopic and microsurgical disc operations, which are particularly gentle on tissue and allow for rapid rehabilitation.
Is everything else always tried before an operation?
Yes. Surgery is always the last option. Physiotherapy, injections, acupuncture, or other conservative measures are carefully exhausted beforehand.
What is the care like before and after the operation?
I personally accompany my patients from the decision to have surgery through the procedure itself to aftercare and rehabilitation – all from one source.
Can scoliosis be surgically corrected in adulthood?
Yes. Scoliosis surgery is possible and advisable even in adulthood if there is pain, postural problems, or organ strain.
