Stay Balanced and Relieve Pain with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Spine Acupuncture
Acupuncture – Benefits & Therapeutic Applications
Back pain and spinal discomfort can have many different causes. Acupuncture helps to relieve pain and release muscular tension. It activates the body’s self-healing powers and restores the natural flow of energy, bringing the body back into balance. Acupuncture is a therapy rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with scientifically proven positive effects:
- Relieves acute and chronic pain
- Loosens muscles and releases tension
- Improves metabolism and organ function
- Has a blood pressure–lowering effect
- Free from side effects
Recommended for:
- Acute and chronic pain
- Back pain
- Lower back pain
- Herniated disc
- Spinal pain
- Joint pain
Note: In Austria, acupuncture is a medical therapy that may only be performed by physicians who have completed comprehensive theoretical and practical training, passed an examination, and hold a diploma recognized by the Austrian Medical Chamber. Dr. Jiresch meets these high professional standards and holds the diploma “TCM – Master of Science” obtained at the Danube University Krems. This combination of conventional medical knowledge and deep expertise in Traditional Chinese Medicine ensures a holistic and safe treatment approach.

Acupuncture – How it works
- Preparation & Diagnosis: Based on your diagnosis and symptoms (e.g., spinal or back pain), the relevant acupuncture points along the spine are identified.
- Insertion of Acupuncture Needles: The selected points are carefully needled.
- Activation Phase: The needles remain in the body for a certain period to unfold their therapeutic effect.
- Reactivation: After some time, the needles are gently adjusted to enhance the stimulation.
- Optional – Moxibustion (Heat Stimulation): Using small incense sticks and moxa herb placed in a special “moxa box” on the back, targeted warmth is applied to specific areas. This heat therapy complements and enhances the effect of acupuncture.
- Optional – Retention Needles: In some cases, small permanent (retention) needles - often placed on the ear - are applied. These remain in place for several days to prolong the therapeutic effect.
Recommended Treatment Frequency:
3–5 weeks, with 1–2 sessions per week, depending on the condition and course of therapy.
